The twin emotions of hate and jealousy are seen as two of the most powerful negative human emotions. The word itself dates from the Dark Ages of Europe (hatian) with christian philosophical undertones as both the principle opposite to love, the dislike of good and the desire to do harm. Hence the similarity of early spelling of hate and satan might be more than coincidence.
Since then, hate has been placed by countless philosophers as the supreme negative emotion of all human emotions.
Hate is a consuming emotion, often rendering the person who hates an emotional cripple to others around them and those that care. The perverse nature of hate is that it usually results in causing more harm to the person who hates than any intended thing or person.
Your own perspective on this emotion
In reading this page, you may be someone who currently feels strong hate towards someone or something. If this is the case, you know first hand how hate is an all consuming emotion.
  Hate of non belief
Of all the hates that have fueled the rage of men and war is the hate of non-believers. For some reason, hell hath no fury than the leader of some revolution for ones own God, Allah, One Spirit or Unique Collective Awareness. Millions have been slaughtered in the name of some higher deity. Hate has been intimately linked to such twisted mind sets for millennia and still continues to this day in the form of suicide bombers and radical religious leaders.
  Finding answers
Some believe they can turn hate into wise words. Who is more foolish?, those who seek to make a flower out of dust, or those who believe the dirt is divine?- (Frank O'Collins)
