Through tragedy, economic hardship and unplanned pregnancy children find themselves separated from their birth parents and instead adopted into other families.
While the adoption of a child to a family wanting a child is infinitely more preferable than women terminating pregnancies purely out of lifestyle choices, adoption is not without its dramatic social, legal and psychological consequences.
For women who have given up their children, there is the legacy of uncertainty on the future of their children. For children who are adopted, it is the legacy of not necessarily knowing who their original parents were or the real reasons behind why they were adopted.
