Work history.1990 - present |

| |
1990 represents in many ways the "high point" in many white collar industries and previously high labour industries. |
| |
By 1990, approximately 1 in 3 people employed around the world were involved in service type work, with only 25% employed in agriculture. This profile of course is skewed given a large number of nations have heavy agriculture, while advanced nations are more likely to have 2 out of every 3 jobs being in a service industry . |

Job redundancy and "off shoring" of jobs to cheaper labour markets has accelerated from this point in a number of industries including services, transport/storage, manufacturing and even construction. |
