Community model #1- the nomadic (semi-nomadic) method
|
|
| |
The nomadic method of human community
life is associated with the necessity for groups of humans to continuously move
in search of adequate food and water. While many races of humans have been
identified as "nomads", very few true nomadic races have ever
existed. Most races identified as nomadic are in fact semi-nomadic or seasonal-
changing their location in sync with the seasonal variations in environment.
This is consistent with the American Indians, the Australian Aborigines and
even the Bushmen of Africa. |
|
| |
The main driver for movement is
essentially the unsustainability of conditions for survival of a particular
location during a particular season (each year, or even every few years). Given
the need to be mobile, these groups of humans have historically been smaller in
number, with fewer possessions than permanent settlements. |
